Finally - the studies on the dangers of the radiation used for cell phone transmission is making the press. While I am not opposed to cell phones, and think they can be very useful and even necessary at times, I believe we need to be educated on the dangers they pose, how to use them wisely, and what we can do to make our personal cell phone safer to use. Notice I said "safer," as opposed to "safe." A safe cell phone is one who's battery is dead. Any radio-wave transmission to, or from the phone, makes it a potential hazard. The studies being done indicate that while some models of cell phones are safer than others, none are always safe, and even the safer ones can be quite the opposite when you are using them in areas where the electro-magnetic frequencies (EMF's) are high. This would explain why you can talk to a person on their cell phone and seem to have no problems, but if they call you while in an area where there is a lot of current present, you get a headache or have sharp pains shooting through your head.
Try driving through neighborhood where most of the residents have wifi and see what happens. Or maybe you don't want to do that!
So, what can we do to make our cell phones safer to use? This is what I have learned through my own research:
The first step is to pick a cell phone you can make safer. Several of the more advanced cell phones cannot be improved in my opinion.
The second step would be to cover your cell phone with a heavy silicone or rubber cover. I am using an Otter Box cover for my phone. Not only to protect it from breakage, but more to protect me from direct contact with it. I never thought I would own an iphone, but am finding this phone to be one of the safest now. In part because of the technology, and second because of the accessories that can be purchased (like the otter box) that insulate you from the current. A silicone screen cover is also good protection from the any radio waves present as well.
Third, use the speaker option whenever possible to avoid direct contact with the phone and the EMF's coming through it. Another option is the use of ear phones. I would use the ones that came with your phone, rather than the Blue Tooth technology, which has been found to increase transmission, and therefore potential danger with the phones.
Fourth, which is so important for safety, is to keep the Wifi option OFF. You can't be protected when its on, no matter what you do. Why, because this is how wifi works, its the type of radio waves it uses. Therefore, the only way to be safe from wifi, is to turn it off. If you feel you have to turn it on at times, then turn it on when necessary, then back off as soon as you are done. This is also true with wifi in the home.
Fifth, get a cell phone diode or device that negates some of the current you are hit with while using it. To get more information on this topic, research websites like www.EarthCalm.com and information from Ann Louise Gittleman at www.areyouzapped.com . Ann Louise Gittleman also has a book titled Zapped, that can be purchased from Amazon. She has thoroughly researched this topic and has all of the information in her book, as well as ideas about how we can protect ourselves from, or at least limit the damage from EMF's.
